The Women’s Utility Leadership in Urban WASH (WULUW) initiative, has launched the first ever issue of our publication, Urban Flow Magazine! The magazine, which is a huge step for female change makers everywhere, was launched at the end of July and it displays WULUW’s commitment to bring women to the forefront of the urban water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) space.
Named for its intention to provide an unceasing flow of access to resources for the empowerment of women in WASH, Urban Flow Magazine has taken women’s empowerment to the next level. Within this quick, informative read, you will find stories from women who have taken great strides as leaders or key players in urban WASH, paving the way for others to do the same.
Other women have shared their wisdom and knowledge building resources, and have provided tips for advancing the careers of young women in WASH so they can also become leaders in their respective fields.
Amidst stories of strong individuals, you will find reminders of unity among women and the importance of giving each other a helping hand, especially in relation to working in male-dominated fields.
In following with the spirit of women empowerment, Urban Flow Magazine is spear-headed by an all-female team. While it is not the first of its kind, it stands with only a few other global publications with all-female teams because the media, much like WASH, is male-dominated and a few women are at the top.
Urban Flow Magazine will be brought to you twice a year. You can look out for issues in July and again in December. The next issue will be released at the end of December 2022, but you can always access the first issue here while you wait, for a daily dose of ‘yes, we can’.
The WULUW initiative supports ROCKBlue’s goal to ensure that everyone living in urban areas all over the world has access to clean water and basic sanitation. WULUW aims to promote and support female leadership in urban WASH by fostering personal growth, increasing female involvement in decision-making; and integrating gender equality and social inclusion into policies, planning, and budgeting within WASH utilities and municipalities.
WULUW and the Urban Flow team are proud to be bringing you an inspirational publication from one group of empowered women to another.
