Commitment to Action

ROCKBlue works with local partners in urban areas of 5 sub-Saharan African countries — impacting more than 5 million lives with clean water and basic sanitation, while helping to create healthy, sustainable cities in these developing nations.

Access to Clean Water and Sanitation

ROCKBlue's CGI Commitment

In September 2023, we announced our commitment to expand our work that  helps our utility partners to bring clean water and basic sanitation to 2 million more people in sub-Saharan Africa by 2025, increasing our impact to more than 24 million people.

ROCKBlue’s Knowledge Management Initiative has enhanced the City’s appreciation of the water supply situation and the shortcomings thereof, as well as how to improve the service. This is through the practical water saving tips as well as the newsletter for information dissemination.” - Municipality of Masvingo, Zimbabwe

Climate resilience

An ever-changing climate has contributed to increasing instances of drought, flooding and other forms of extreme weather that impact the availability of clean water around the world. In climate-sensitive sub-Saharan Africa, we are committed to working with our partners to mitigate the effects of our shifting climate and help provide water security for urban communities that need it most.

Health equity

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 3.6 million people die each year from water-related diseases — more than half are children. Unsafe water and poor sanitation the leading causes of death in children under five in sub-Saharan Africa. ROCKBlue currently supports local partners to provide clean water and basic sanitation to over 23 million people. Our commitment will reach 2 million more.

Inclusiveness

Our support of water service providers (WSPs) in sub-Saharan Africa who provide clean water and sanitation services helps promote opportunities for inclusive economic growth in local communities. At the same time, our WULUW initiative mentors and helps empower women with information, tools and resources to become leaders in the male-dominated water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector to fight the Global Water Crisis.
