How to support ROCKBlue

How to
support ROCKBlue

ROCKBlue works with local partners in urban areas of 5 sub-Saharan African countries — impacting more than 5 million lives with clean water and basic sanitation, while helping to create healthy, sustainable cities in these developing nations.

Private individuals

Small, medium, large donations from $20 to $20,000

ROCKBlue has three general categories of expenses:

  • expenses associated with our partner utilities
  • expenses for our educational outreach such as technical workshops, podcasts and classes, and
  • operational expenses

In all three cases, the benefits are either direct or indirect and they impact the individuals and businesses served by our partner utilities. Improvements in water quality and quantity as well as sanitation have a major impact on human and economic health in the cities where we work. For any donation, we inform the donor where and how their donation is being used. We prefer “unrestricted” donations but also accept “restricted” such as to a particular utility.

Utility Experts

(with utility experience in the developing world)
Your valuable time and experience
The benefits will be seen almost immediately in terms of improved performance for the utilities and thus for those they serve. This could be in the form of improved infrastructure, improved utility operations, improved morale, lower non-revenue water/losses, higher collections, etc. This, in turn results in improvements to consumers of water and users of the wastewater infrastructure.

For-profit businesses

Medium, large donations from $1,000 to $100,000 or consider ROCKBlue as a partner on your bid

ROCKBlue provides highly experienced and qualified specialists at non-profit rates. These are specialists with name recognition and very strong (high scoring) CV’s. And, following ROCKBlue’s unique style of engagement with a utility’s senior management, we can offer a life-time guarantee to the utility.

That is, our impact (hence yours if we’re working together) is not short-term with an end date when the project is finished. To the contrary, we promise to be with the utility for the long run thus enabling sustainable and durable results that last well beyond the project’s intervention. Ultimately, this for-profit/non-profit teaming results in improved utility performance and benefits its rate payers – but, most significantly, for the long term.

Non-profit organizations

Foundations

ROCKBlue has three general categories of expenses:

We prefer “unrestricted” grants but also accept “restricted” such as to a particular utility. In all three cases, the benefits are either direct or indirect and they impact the individual and company rate payers of our partner utilities. Improvements in water quality and quantity as well as sanitation have a major impact on human and economic health in the cities where we work.

Because we work in heavily urbanized environments, not only are we impacting millions, if not billions, of the most vulnerable such as women and children, but we’re one of the few organizations that can confidently offer sustainable/durable assurances that the funds and interventions will not be short-lived. These interventions have a major impact on decreasing poverty, improving health and expanding the economy.

Banks and other lending institutions

There are two areas of support:

  • monetary support within your own guidelines, and
  • directing for-profit businesses and your own utility partners to contact ROCKBlue

In all three cases, the benefits are either direct or indirect and they impact the individual and company rate payers of the partner utilities. Improvements in water quality and quantity as well as sanitation have a major impact on human and economic health in the rapidly urbanized cities of the developing world.

Because the work is in heavily urbanized environments, not only is it impacting millions of the most vulnerable such as women and children, but, with ROCKBlue, we are one of the few organizations that can confidently offer sustainable/durable assurances that the funds and interventions will not be short-lived. Having ROCKBlue work with one of your partner utilities not only improves transparency and strategic planning, but also helps guarantee your economic assumptions (ERR and IRR calculations) as our interaction and support for the utility is a life-time guarantee and we can continue to assist them when they hit challenging periods in their operations.

Directing others to ROCKBlue. ROCKBlue provides highly experienced and qualified specialists at non-profit rates. These are specialists with name recognition and very strong CV’s.
