Over two billion people in the world still lack safe drinking water and nearly half lack adequate sanitation. These are problems that won’t be solved overnight, but real progress is being made, and we are proud to be a part of the solution.
ROCKBlue was founded on the basis that real, sustainable improvement rests in the hands of the utilities that currently serve these rapidly growing urban populations. Over the past 11 years, our organization has collaborated with water service providers across six low and middle-income countries. Our approach focuses on offering affordable consulting, mentorship, and workshops to local professionals, helping them enhance their capacity and effectiveness.
Our model has proven that significant and lasting impact, through sustained capacity building, doesn’t have to be expensive. Our specialists use industry best practices to help WSPs become more self-reliant.
ROCKBlue’s 2024 annual report features a snapshot into our past and current efforts. You’ll find details on:
Utility Partnership Division
We currently partner with water service providers in five African countries to optimize their operations and finances. In 2024, access to water was expanded in six locations, and access to sanitation improved in four locations.
Access to Capital Oversight and Reporting (ACORN)
The ACORN project began as a pilot to help water utilities improve operational and financial performance. Following early success at Lusaka Water and Sanitation Company (LWSC), ROCKBlue helped secure EIB funding to address Non-Revenue Water by targeting Real and Apparent Losses.
Women’s Urban Leadership in Utility WASH (WULUW)
This effort focuses on mentorship to increase female participation in the water and sanitation (WASH) field. This year, 10 women from diverse African countries participated in a virtual mentorship sponsored by Xylem.
Performance Achievement Workshop Series (PAWS)
PAWS is a cornerstone initiative within our Utility Partnership Division (UPD). Held four times a year, participants engage with industry professionals, set goals, and build a roadmap to achieve their objectives.
ROCKBlue Consultancy
Our professional services division works with other non-profits toward the common goal of safe drinking water and adequate sanitation for all. In 2024, we collaborated with five organizations and explored partnerships with two others.
