GIVING TUESDAY

Today is Giving Tuesday, which marks the beginning of the annual season of charitable giving to bring about positive change in the world.

Join in this phenomenal global movement with a donation to ROCKBlue and you’ll help to provide safe, clean water to millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa, like Lesotho villager, Me Malimakatso Ranthako, a member of the local water committee. “People are happy to finally have potable water,” he says, referring to residents in the cluster of a dozen villages within a three-mile radius who use and rely on the new tap stand from our partner WASCO as their only clean water source.

Here, villagers used to fetch water from a stream sometimes polluted with cattle faeces, aquatic insects, and silt. Not only was straining the contaminated water with dishcloths and sieves a time-consuming, hands-on process that took an hour or more to fill a single bucket; but it also placed them at risk of contracting waterborne diseases that could sicken them and threaten the lives of children and other vulnerable locals.

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished since our founding in 2013. We’ve forged relationships with utility and municipal partners in five countries, supporting them as they serve more than 22 million people with clean water, improving lives and creating healthier cities. We operate an Online Lecture Series (OLS) – a global knowledge-sharing initiative that has helped inform and educate WASH professionals in 50 countries.

We have successfully hosted Performance Achievement Workshops (PAWS) in order to effectuate measurable performance improvements for the utilities and municipalities we support. We have launched the Women’s Urban Leadership in Utility WASH (WULUW) mentorship initiative for women and girls to empower them with the knowledge to pursue careers in the WASH sector and take on leadership roles in a male-dominated field.

ROCKBlue has been challenged by an anonymous donor to raise $50K and they will match the amount immediately and raise the donation amount to $100K.
