| ROCKBlue was asked to consider providing support to four utilities in Zimbabwe supported by the multi-donor ZimFund. The initial (Phase I) cities were: Harare, Chitungwiza, Chegutu, Kwekwe, Masvingo and Mutare. These cities form part of the Urgent Water Supply and Sanitation Rehabilitation Project (UWSSRP II). The Phase II objectives in the four cities of: Harare, Chitungwiza, Ruwa and Redcliff are: improve water and sewerage network performance, strengthen commercial aspects and enhance service delivery efficiency including non-revenue water management, preserve physical assets, resuscitate capacity and improve financial sustainability (specifically mentioned) of water and sanitation service providers in operation and maintenance, enhancing sustainability. The interventions will be complemented with hygiene promotion, targeting the most vulnerable segment of the population. They will also support efforts of the local authorities to promote water conservation. |
