Karen Pallansch honored as one of the Top 10 Influential Women of Water

In January of this year the chair of ROCKBlue’s Board, Mrs. Pallansch, was honored as one of the Top 10 Influential Women of Water. This is an award given at the Inaugural Mazars Women of Water Summit. Women in the water sector, from all over the US, are nominated by their peers in one of four categories: innovation, sustainability, mentorship or community advocacy.

The Summit brought together hundreds of leading water sector executives as well as public and private business owners, government officials and academics. They shared stories, ideas and purpose and emphasis was placed on advocating for women and diversity in the water sector. Many also shared their goals for inclusion and diversity as well as their positive actions toward improving gender parity.

Currently, men dominate this area and females make up less than 20 percent of the total employees in the water sector. To address this, the Summit hopes to become an annual event during which a spotlight can be shone on successes and the way forward can be discussed.

ROCKBlue congratulates Mrs. Pallansch and asked her to comment on ROCKBlue.

I am excited, honored and humbled to take the reins of Chair of the Board of Directors for ROCKBlue! What an amazing vision! It has demonstrated success in change management and leading the change in utility employees’ minds and hearts. To be effective and efficient in the sourcing, treatment and delivery of water in communities all over Africa.

It’s a remarkable story of a great start to an organization making a difference. I am especially excited about ROCKBlue’s WULUW initiative. About empowering and supporting female leaders in Africa’s water sector.

I have lived through the challenges of being the ‘first woman’ in many of the roles I have held and meetings attended over the last 30 years. As such, it has been fulfilling to be a role model for some. To show what women can do. Diversity of all kinds is critical to ensuring sound water management now and into our future. ROCKBlue has it all and has the agility to make it happen. I am excited about being part of that team.
